Protect Yourself From Scammers
May 2, 2024 | News
Recently, some customers have reported scammers calling and using different tactics in an attempt to get their personal or banking information.
Calling About a Refund
Scammers have been calling UPPCO customers reporting that they overpaid their bill. They offer to refund a substantial amount of money to the customer’s bank account. These scams are attempting to collect bank account information. If you suspect a scam, hang up and call the UPPCO number printed on your bill or found at uppco.com.
Websites Offering Bill Pay
Some websites offer an alternate way to pay your utility bill and receive a discount. These scams will take your money but will not make a payment to UPPCO or any other utility company. To make a payment to UPPCO, log in to your customer account via uppco.com or follow the alternative payment instructions found on your monthly bill. Do not make UPPCO payments on any websites other than uppco.com.
These are just two examples of recent scams as reported by UPPCO customers. Scammers change their tactics all the time and can be very convincing. When in doubt, call UPPCO at the number on your bill or from uppco.com.
